Nコン (Ncon) is a country-wide school musical competition According to wikipedia it started in 1932 @@ Every year, selected artists compose a song based on a given theme, and schools across the country compete to perform the best interpretation. Among the most familiar songs are "YELL" from ikimonogakari, that was selected for the primary schools category in 2009, and Angela Aki's "Tegami" on 2008. For next year's contest, the theme chosen was "Light" And YUI was selected to compose the song for middle schools category! :clap http://www.nhk.or.jp/ncon/music_program/artist24.html I don't know much more details of this contest. Maybe ikimono fans know more? This year's song was "Akashi" by Flumpool. I followed the YELL thingy from Ikimono and there were a lot of special programs about it in NHK with Ikimono performing the song with the kids in the school or practicing with them and all the stuff, it was pretty epic! yeah, i've watched ikimonogakari's participation in this and it's pretty awesome. it's great to see the kids do their own choir rendition of the songs. i have this one video file where they even sing with ikimono, and it's pretty epic as dso said. now that YUI is doing the next one, makes me excited for how it will turn out. also, this competition thing is nationwide so basically, there will be NO ONE in Japanese schools (and fewer in Japan as a whole) who will not know YUI(hopefully). good promotion(FINALLY!) for the single and YUI if you ask me. anyway, i look forward to this. hmm..the title does seem like it'll be rock-ish. but when i think about it, maybe she means fight as in when the japanese say "faito!" as a way of saying "good luck/keep going!". cause i cannot see how a rock song would work for a choir. |
