My DAD hates YUI.. huhu, who's on the same shoes?; he doesn't like it when i play YUI's songs on my pc

YUI, you are my LIFE now Posts: 327 Group: YUI Lovers Member #26,544 Joined: Jan 3 2010	obviously, all of us here are YUI's fans. and we love her, don't we? i've been YUI-san's fan for more or less 5months already (still awhile). and my life was even more colorful after knowing the IDOL we all love. SHE indeed made my LIFE worth living for. BUT, there's something (i mean, someone) KILLING/STOPPING the joy i feel everytime i listen to YUI's songs. and that is, MY FATHER. YES, MY FATHER. both of us are big fans of music. but unfortunately, i don't love his music as much as i love J-music and above all things, YUI. and WORSE, "he just don't understand WHY ON EARTH would i bother to listen to songs i don't even understand." (i understand it though but not too much) NOW, the problem is, everytime i turn my PC on, i won't miss a chance to play YUI's songs. and so, he would immediately blurt out, "AGAIN? aren't you irritated to those songs? do you even understand what she (YUI) is singing? why on earth do you love listening to those songs? those songs aren't even worth listening for." the same thing happens when i sing and play YUI's song on guitar. my dad really is pathetic and KJ (Kill Joy, that's a term we use here in the Philippines which means someone is killing the joy at the very moment or the happy ambience) THAT's what i hate 'bout my dad. HE doesn't support the things i love. the same thing with my passion for anime. sigh it's not really a big deal because i can just let the things he says pass through my other ear, or just simply IGNORE him. deshou? but its just that, I FEEL LIKE HE IS INSULTING YUI and J-music as well. and i just can't bear that! i have to stand for my LOVE for YUI! because SHE made MUSIC a lot more meaningful to me. but i guess, eventhough that's the case, I STILL HAVE TO RESPECT MY DAD. and i reall have to. all i have to do now is simply cover my ears when he starts to blurt out the same words -as usual. XD that's it! now, WHO AMONG THE YLs EXPERIENCE THE SAME THING? haha, gambatte nee minna. we can do it! let's just LAUGH AWAY. weee!~ YUI!~ rocks xD :cool

I have same problem but with my sister , she doesn't like YUI at all and always tells me why im always listening to YUI if i cant understand what she says. It's not about the words , its about the meaning behind them and that's why i listen to YUI. Like you said YUI makes life worth living.

We are after all, chinese. Although i'm not saying all chinese people are like that. But there are many out there who don't like Japan because of the history between them and China. So, almost everything i watch/play/listen to is all related to japan. Whether it's anime, games, music, YUI. Everytime my family sees me doing these things, they either get pissed off, make fun of japanese people, or saying things like I'm a traitor to the chinese people. My parent's especially can be pretty mean about it. I onced played my TYMT live dvd with our dvd player and sound system while they were home...which i will NEVER do again. My dad ended up taking the disc out and breaking it T_T. I had to buy another copy...(well, i only play iso copies on my comp now so i don't endanger my discs anymore) Anyway, as long as i don't do things related to japan in any way that will bother them, like playing my stuff with the family dvd player...they don't do anything about it, except rant. But it just pisses me off when my parents talk shit about japanese people whenever i listen to my j music. I understand how they feel about them, but seriously imo, that was all in the past. you shouldn't hate on all of them because of what the people from the past did. My suspicion is that certain kinds of extraverts feel like they need to be part of everything. If those people are verbally focused and they can't understand what's being said they react like they're being excluded from something. They seem to get very edgy and uncomfortable, sometimes actually irritable. While you are taking in information (meaning) through the tonality and expression, these people seem to be locked into the specific vocabulary to get their meaning and are lost without it. And, if I'm right and these people are hard-wired this way, there is really nothing you can do about it. You want a funny experiment? Way back in ancient times....the eighties....there was a band called The Cocteau Twins. They were great! Especially the vocalist! They were kinda related to New Wave, but not really....there was nobody else like them. Anyway, she sang in such a way that you simply could not make out the lyrics. They had this vague sound like English, and you were always sure you should understand it, but you couldn't. I loved it....some people hated it! For your experiment, try playing this without saying what it is, and see how they react....should be interesting and may be funny. Posts: 1,945 Group: YUI Lovers Member #25,299 Joined: May 29 2009	hmm...gladly my parents and my sisters also LOVE YUI LOL because of ME :P :cool but I have the samething with my friends, They always says "what YUI again?", or when I posted some entry to Facebook etc related to YUI what my friends always says is "You're such an otaku" :shock But c'mon what do they know about YUI? what do the know about dream, passion and inspirational from YUI's songs lyric. They do know NOTHING. They just judge something when they know NOTHING. Of course I have KJ like you but I have the killer for KJ thing --> YUI's song in my ear and ignore them :P "this is my world and my favorite music, you have nothing to do with me." Just IGNORE them (about the music) not the relationship :P

Pinoy! just use headsets when playing YUI's music on your PC. that way no one would bother to disturb you, or you disturbing them either way. just continue what you love and what you like to do eventually your father would get used to it. in my case they don't even give a damn even if i turn the music loud. so i'm very lucky. instead they would just ask me to turn the volume a little low.

Try asking people who grew up learning music. I've been learning since i was 5. Music itself is really a language by itself :good When i showed my mum my YUI poster , she says she din't really like the singer. As you all know, YUI don't smile in pictures :hee She may look a bit arrogant to people who don't know her. And each time i on YUI, my mum would say.. again? But i don't really blame her.I play her songs practically everyday :sry So basically, my mum don't fancy YUI. Not HATE

When I bought the two first YUI albums, he and my mother asked me "Can't you just download the album free online? This is kinda expensive when you can get them free." I was, of course, felt angry :angry . I mean, I understand if I just like one YUI song, but I love all of the songs. To me it's not unfair if I listen to her music without paying them. Then my brother went saying that her music is boring, blah, blah, blah but I ignored him. Then I torture him by playing the cd in his car when he drives. TAKE THAT BROTHER! =P

[Actually, my older relatives did live through the Japanese occupation of Malaysia and Singapore from 1942 - 1945... not pleasant memories!] My folks were taken aback that I was willing to spend tons of �� on guitar, which I have never been interested in before, just to play the songs of a particular Japanese singer... but they don't really care what I go for as long as it doesn't cost THEM. My momma's more likely to be bothered with me playing my old gangsta rap albums loudly becoz of the constant cursing and feculent references to sex and drugs. Lots of people I know don't understand why I only go for Chinese and Japanese songs even though I'm rotten at both languages. But they don't mock me for my choices, so I'm feeling fortunate for that. Of course, anyone who tried to diss me for what I like, I'll tell them to 'kiss my a'..... People are more bugged by me reading too much about war than C/J pop..... (they say this quite often) but I just smile and ignore.. :hee I mean they don't know YUI like we do nee When I am doing chores I put YUI on pretty loud, and whoever is around me just shakes their head, but I don't care :cool I do put headphones on quite often in my room though cuz my mom watches her "telenovelas" and she doesn't like to be disturbed :rolleye

I usually kept my music to myself because I know that some people won't like what I listen to as long as they do the same. I don't tell my friends stuff about YUI (failed the spread the love of YUI) because I know they won't be interested but if they really want to know, I won't mind telling them.

Posts: 145 Group: YUI Lovers Member #5,487 Joined: Dec 1 2007	My family's alright with it, I even managed to get my brother to like some of her songs But the problem is a friend of mine who keeps saying YUI sucks and that Hikki is much better I just get really annoyed when she says that, as you really can't compare Hikki with YUI - they're both different singers!!!! (>_<) And she keeps saying that there's nothing special about YUI (well there obviously is as so many people like her!) but that's just her opinion and we're different people ^^ so we argue a lot about who's better (although I do also like Hikki, but when she keeps dissing YUI like that it annoys me. a lot.) some people do think I'm weird though as I listen to mostly J-music (and love all things japanese) but I'm malaysian chinese so people who don't really know me mistake me for being japanese (if only that was true...) YUI + guitar = <3 Posts: 776 Group: YUI Lovers Member #3,699 Joined: Aug 3 2007	I guess i must be pretty lucky to have a family that loves absolutely everything about Japan, minus the music. We've travelled there a couple of times and they love the place, the people and the food. It probably helps that my dad has a couple of Japanese friends. It wasnt like this in the past though, when I started listening to Ayu. It was more of a "omg her voice is so screechy can u turn it off" kind of thing. Then of course there was the "why are u listening to something you dont understand?", and the "omg you're spending too much money on them!". But eventually my parents saw the positive influence J-music was having on me. I learnt the guitar at around the same time I started listening, and eventually joined a band, played j-gigs and stuff. My mum's kinda proud of that so I guess she eventually accepted it. Most of my friends who know her like YUI, they mostly know her songs thru anime like Bleach and Naruto, so i'm not complaining :) My girlfriend hates it though, but I think she's just jealous. I try not to mention anything to her =P As for the "not understanding part", take a Japanese language class and tell them "I can understand every single word!" I watched Taiyo no Uta with my dad, he said it was very touching, but the acting was stiff :what Edited by asuna, Mar 27 2010, 07:06:19 AM.

I always use YUI's songs as my phone's ringtone. Whether I cut it myself right on where the reff starts, or use the full version of the song. Everytime my phone's ringing, they start insult me. They follow the melody of the song horribly, they sing the lyrics with their alien language. God what the hell is happening? This is my taste. People tastes are different each other. Is there any mistake if I make YUI become my idol? Some weeks later after they insulted me always, I changed my song playlist a bit. I added some west songs like Akon's and Lady Gaga's. And when I played the song, my sister asked, "Where are your YUI songs? Has she die?" WTF. I hate what she was asked me just now. The other reason why they hate YUI is the language. They don't understand Japanese and they always think that Japan language is weird with -chan -moshi -kun -arigatou -watashiwa words. I myself love Japan language. I couldn't understand what they are thinking about it. As long as they hate YUI, I can't play YUI songs loudly happily ever after. I have to use my headphone or they will insult me again. It's a terrible condition, I know. But I will do it for my little YUI and I always support her.
	YUI is everything for me . without her voice, i couldn't live until now .

My dad doesn't care about what I listen to as long as I focus on my studies but my mom was a bit troublesome. She likes Korean music better than Japanese music, so I used to tell little white lies. Things like, DBSK and BIGBANG has Japanese songs and they said this singer is good. Then one day an aunt mistook a poster of YUI for me and that shut her up permanently. I don't think I look like YUI at all but it shut my mom up, and that's the important thing!

Things like, DBSK and BIGBANG has Japanese songs and they said this singer is good. Then one day an aunt mistook a poster of YUI for me and that shut her up permanently. I don't think I look like YUI at all but it shut my mom up, and that's the important thing! *haha same here my mom thinks i look like YUI from the side point ILY poster* :hee**

My family got used to me...liking YUI, liking J-pop and K-pop....my sister told me I have a weird taste of music...hahaha.... and about anime my mom is the one who's against with it....hahaha!!! Yo father will get used to you Rui!! :good It's just been months since you're a fan right? It's been years to me that's why they got used to it already...hehe.. : )
