hello, need some more help :sry i want to buy a volume pedal, and have decided on one. but there are two versions. one is for passive and one is for active. i don't really get what this means. what's the difference? explanation is much appreciated =) |

it depends if your guitar/bass is active or passive. active means there's a pre-amp of some sort in your guitar. active volume pedals usually go with active guitars as they run at a higher energy level. passives go with passives. im sure your pedal wouldn't break if your guitar was active and your pedal was passive but in the case of a volume pedal, the volume control might act funny (eg: delayed response, no volume difference) or might have a smaller range of loud/soft. if your guitar happens to be passive and you can only find an active volume pedal, there are ways such as effects looping the signal (eg: put a pre-amp pedal between the two) so that the pedal can still run normally. hope this helps. |
