OMG I can't believe that of all the topic discussions this has remained empty all these months. Doesn't anyone like HK or Taiwan singers here?

Anyway are there any other 陈慧琳 Kelly Chen fans on YL? Maybe I just wanna break some ice and also, have a little chat about the first singer I've ever liked, since 2000.

I noticed that on Facebook, there are TONS of discussions for the Yui fans page while for many of the other singers who are just as or even more famous, folks hardly talk to each other. I know they're strangers who have never met mostly, but same applies for the people on the Yui page. Maybe Yui fans tend to be a lot less reticent than the fans of other folks?

lol i used to be a big fan of chinese and taiwanese singers but i just grew out of them. I only listened to a few of kelly chen's songs. I mostly listened to Leehom or Jay Chou. They were the best.

Thought have u ever released that all asian singers are also actors. Its like they automatically get a job in both industries lol hahaha.

True! Regardless of acting ability they end up in movies!

Jacky Cheung Hok Yau's most memorable performance in movies was Bullet in the Head and Chinese Ghost Story 2 (as the tunelling ghost hunter). The late Leslie Cheung was famous for Chinese Ghost Story and Better Tomorrow. Kelly Chen has also been in movies but despite being my fave chinese star, I don't think she was suitable for that last movie she did alongside Leon Lai Ming - Empress and Warrior! And Miriam Yeung Chin Wah has been in a gaggle of rom-coms, almost always playing klutzy women.

Some actors who don't normally sing have done their movie's theme song for the end credits - Jackie Chan is one of them! Must be to save $$$$$$.

Haha I actually LOLed when i saw yoshiro's reply about how singers also has a career as a actor. Cause it is so true!!

And yeah i love Miriam Yeung's movies. Seriously i've watched one of her movies like 10 million times and I've basically memorized the script by accident hahahaha!

Umm I wouldn't say i'm a big fan of Kelly Chen, but i do enjoy her songs! One thing i really like about her is that her image in HK is pretty good. No bad news about her, and i've never seen her on paparazzi magazines (except the ones when she's getting married). I wouldn't say I like her acting, but I do enjoy some of them..i like the one she's in with Tony Leung..i think it was filmed in Japan? lol yeah that one was okay.

I don't think it's cause they want to save money though..about your point having actors singing the ending..sometimes i think it's just..i don't know...cause sometimes when i watch TVB dramas, some actors sings the theme songs, it gives me this "warm" feeling??? i don't know how to phrase this but it makes me feel closer when the actual actor sings the theme songs. Cause it kinda reminds you of the story and everything. idk, maybe in jackie chan's case is different? lol i don't really like him though..

Ha ha been MONTHS since anyone replied to this thread.

The movie that she appeared in with Tony Leung, Ekin Cheng and Cecilia Cheung Pak Chee is called Tokyo Raiders 东京攻略,

Yup, the last two people I mentioned are singers too! Ekin Cheng is famous for having a stone face in his movies!

Yeah I love Adam Cheng Siu Chau - he acted in a lot of super old series which I haven't seen before and he sang theme songs for them too. Other famous theme song singer from 70s and 80s would be the late Roman Tam, but he didn't act.

As for Kelly, she seems nice becoz she spends a lot of her earnings on various charity work, mostly to do with helping kids read. It's been a long time since she made an album - last one appeared in May 2008 but she has been busy with just being married and having a daughter.

I know it sounds bad but I haven't been listening to her tracks as often as I used to.... perhaps becoz my attention is now focused between Yui, Kit Chan, Adam Cheng and Jacky Cheung???

Haha, replied now cause i couldn't see the thread before.

Wow..you listen to Cheng Siu Chau? haha. Nice. i personally don't really like him very much, so no comments about him. I've seen him a few times in person. i guess he's okay? We both nodded to each other when we saw each other. Not that i know him in person, but i guess he knows that i recognized him as a artist so i guess that's why he nodded.

Jacky Cheung's good. Love his songs, really good too. You listen to a lot of HK singers? If you do, you should listen to Justin Lo :) Not that i'm advertising here (Just cause i'm one of his fans too). I honestly think his songs are good. Especially the new hk singers..can't even sing and sings weird songs. :S

I just like Kelly the way she is. Hahaha. I don't really mind if she's not planning to release any cds anymore, i mean her old songs are still awesome to listen to. but it'll still be nice if she does release..haha

And not listening to her doesn't make you a bad fan or something. I mean, to be honest, i've tried not listening to YUI songs for a certain of time. but didn't last long hahahaa. love YUI too much~

And Lady Gaga's good too ;)

The last time I mentioned Adam Cheng to a friend, he gulped 'That's my grandfather's time's music'!

A few times in person? Wah, how did you manage to run into him more than once?

Took me a long time to appreciate Jacky Cheung. If I had learnt to like him earlier, would have gone to his last concert in UK which was in Wembley Stadium several years ago. It's rare for chinese stars to ever come to UK.... not enough Asian folk about! I know that Kelly has performed in New York before.... one of my old CDs has the concert footage as a bonus VCD.

I do listen to just a small no of HK singers, mostly 80s or 90s ones. Most of the guy singers I like are old (Adam Cheng, Jacky Cheung) or dead (Roman Tam Bak Sin, Leslie Cheung). I only started listening to Leslie AFTER he died.

It's strange but I noticed that folks who like c-singers arent't so chatty to each other compared to some other singer categories (by geography). Kelly is a quite a big star in HK but not many people are on the Facebook fan page and they don't talk to each other in the forum section. On the other hand...... Yui is a relatively new singer in Japan but her Facebook fanpage has tons of discussion topics and folks say a lot to each other!

Maybe people talk about YUI more because she is a relatively newer and more active artist (being younger and unmarried, she gets to be).

Or maybe FB fan pages are not very popular by fans in that geographic locations (I know I don't use them).

And maybe there is also age demographic? I bet the majority of the members in this forums are within +5/-5 years of YUI's age (normal distribution, of course, some will fall outside this range). On average, I'd expect Kelly's fan to be older. There may be a correlation between age and likelihood to participate online discussions about one's favourite artist. [And to answer the original question, there are a few songs of her's that I like, but they are a minority I am afraid]

Ahhh.... I haven't been paying enough attention to Kelly Chen lately [partly becoz of being focused on YUI lately, fufufu] and becoz she was on a break after her wedding and childbirth. So I was rather taken aback that she had a new album Chasing Dreams while Miriam Yeung and Sammi Cheng also had new releases in Dec 09 and Jan '10!

Kelly has also been in the compilation album UNI POWER and she sounds so angel like in the song she duets with Alan Tam Wing Lun.

If anyone out there still has a flame for her music, please check out on Youtube!
