The beginning of each Dan Brown bores me and takes me so long to read. That's why I had put those books on hold.

I'm happy probably because...I had you with me

Re-read 1984 recently just to remind myself how much I hated that book (I mean, how unrealistic is it?)

and now reading Andre Malraux's Man's Fate and Betty Smith's A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Hey! I like classics :)

Currently Reading:
-- Never Let Me Go - Kazuo Ishiguro
-- Botchan - Natsume Sōseki
-- Battle Royale - Koushun Takami

Half way through Never Let Me Go right now, it's going well... I've just been alittle lazy with it though. I'm also reading Botchan and Battle Royale but ended up putting them on hold.

i honestly haven't picked up a fictional novel in a long while besides Harry Potter.

Over the winter ..i ended up getting lost in Haruki Murakami's surrealistic worlds....

I think in 1.5 months i read:
- Kafka On the Shore
- Wind up Bird Chronicles
- 1Q87
and a few of his short stories

Personally i hardly read a book at all but, lately, i've been reading Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen.(again)
I don't know y im reading it again tbh. If u like a circus life in the depression era (During 1930s), or just circus in general, def check it out. You'll also get a sense where you lose everything and feel what's its like to live on the street and/or in a circus train life. Not to mention there's a suspense/mystery involving killing as well. Also there's this love triangle conflicts going around...oh man i wish i could go on...
Although it's definitely not for children as there r few moments of adultery ish ( u know what i'm talking about)..

ps, any of u book lovers recommend me any sci-fi / Bourne Identity type book series? I'm really interested in those

Troglodyte with a change of heart.

@gotchi: Man, I have to get my hands on 1Q84 soon. I don't want to read it now though because reading a novel that you've always wanted to read, but in another country, does something to you--when you don't do it naturally. If you like Murakami, you should also try David Mitchell. I personally like Mitchell more even though I got to know Mitchell because I knew Murakami. Keep an eye out for the movie "Cloud Atlas," which should be coming out in theaters soon. The book was great. My favorite(s) by Mitchell would have to be "number9dream" and a section from "Ghostwritten." His most recent novel "The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet" was also a pleasure to read.
@cybergeron: Now that novel was really a page-turner. I remember I couldn't put it down.

I brought to Beijing some early twentieth century German short stories and two Hesse novels. Haven't gotten in the mood to read. I was going to bring Dostoevsky too, but I already knew that I would have trouble reading in Beijing (never mind reading Dostoevsky).

Ah i think David Mitchell was here in Vancouver and my friends went and got his autograph. They love that Cloud Atlas novel!~...I don't really read much but I should probably borrow it from my friend to read then!

I'll keep an eye out for Mitchell's work then...thanks!

But yea 1Q84 was alright, still a page turner ..bit repetitive but i guess this might be because it was originally 3 novels and it was translated into one large volumed text.

The last fun novel reading I had was last summer rereading the Harry Potter series while in Taiwan. I did read Hidamari Sketch while traveling to the Middle East this winter, so if manga counts...

M249 SAW piles up the bodies in BF3.

The Wrong War by Bing West. It's about the author's analysis on the frustrations and difficulties of fighting in Afghanistan now. I waited 13 months for the paperback edition to be released before buying it.

Although I coveted this book for so long, I've been slow at reading it becoz I have to cram a lot of Cold War related books for my school essay.

Not reading any thick book at the moment, but there is a book that i read a while back that i really like. It was a local book "Debu Hiroshima" (means Ashes of Hiroshima). As you can guess it is about the Hiroshima bombing. The writer is a student of this guy who was studying there when the atomic bomb dropped.

It is in Malay though. No English version that I know of but Japanese version is available(I dont know the title).

I just finished "A Feast for Crows" of G.R.R. Martin!

I'm a Harry Potter fan and since it was over I never really found another book series that could fill that empty feeling of OVER u.u

But I got quite curious about A Song of Ice and Fire after watching the TV series then I decided to give it chance! And I really liked it! I think he has a different way of exposing the tale... pretty cool!

The 5th book (A Dance with Dragons) will be available in portuguese by August, I guess, and since I'm lazy to read in English, I'll just wait =X
