Okay...I'll try not to get any personal rants on this post. Regarding the shoutbox as of recently, I suggest members to REFRAME from answering/replying to posts such as "YUI sucks!" and..similar stuff. Yes, I know it's disrespectful and I understand that you want to stand up to YUI. HOWEVER....Only responding back will make the person argue/talk more. We all have different opinions, and at the same time, most of us have a common opinion about YUI being totally awesome. The thing that I ask from all of you is that just please don't listen to the dissing-ness of others. It's pointless. You know your own opinion, they have their own opinion, and etc. Will it bother you? Most likely yes. YUI fans outnumber YUI haters in the first place. But we can all be mature about this situation and simply ignore those even-worse-than-spam comments. In other words..there's no point in becoming a volcano about it. I know some of us haven't been like that YET..But I'm pretty sure that'll happen soon...So this is just a suggestion from me to the members, and not to the forums itself. the original idea was to have the NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT marque but apparently, the shoutbox marquees too. if u are viewing in Firefox, the shoutbox shouldnt be moving. |

dont quite work for mi.. the same prob remains.. for us singaporeans most of us still use internet explorer.. too used to it. and actually i really thought we should change to firefox or something :lol: but i myself dun feel like chainging (not making sense lol) XD |

I have been using Firefox all along so I didn't know the shoutbox was marqueeing when viewed in IE until now. I took a look at the source code and came to one conclusion. Firefox is more capable than IE when it comes to auto-correcting encapsulating opening and closing tags in erroneous order. That's why it looks normal in Firefox but screwed up in IE. From the original source code below, the closing </marquee> tag is after the shoutbox code, thus causing the shoutbox to marquee too.
Below should be the correct position of the closing </marquee>. I'm sure it should be close to what Daita(isM) had in mind too.

I'm not going to download an entire new browser just so the shoutbox won't marquee. It's never marqueed before, so why can't it just be fixed?? And besides, I like my IE :lovepc *hugs IE* =P |

That's fine if you want to stick with IE. I'm not sure what did AditZ fixed regarding his last reply but I checked the code too and it's still the same as described by Kai-san. Get Firefox (or other browser) isn't just about the shoutbox. It's about having less chance of security and virus problems which are mostly associated with IE. Plus there are plenty of free plugins/add-ons for Firefox that makes a lot of things more convenient (such as Ad blockers, Rikaichan Japanese dictionary). |

Just taken a look at the code again like s0l1dsn8k3 did and the </marquee> is still at the wrong place (at line 323 instead of at line 316). Maybe the server refusing to accept Aditz's amendments? :( |

Trust me guys, firefox has so many features that completely pwn over IE. A month or so ago, I didn't think firefox would be this cool. I like the appearance of it, as opposed to IE. The numerous little things that are included in firefox and not in IE, but you'll need to use it to find them out specifically. It's really worth the time of downloading + installing it, which doesn't take that long. |

yea.. but same time. shoutbox dun quite work for mi in both browser n i didnt frequently use it. or should say, no chance to use it. so its just a bigger moving box for mi

FF is not bad. i loved to use it. until now, i use FF to browse. Maybe i dont have IE7 hehe. IE5 and 6 is so slow to respond. And Opera is faster but i always get an error on tis program. My opinion FF is the best browser but we must download plugin for see flash media. |
