Yeh, I'm a big fan of Michelle Branch.. she's the reason I got into guitar playing! And when I became a fan of YUI, I noticed that her and Michelle are similar. So who else is a fan of Michelle? :) |

kinda... but, im more on the side of Avril Lavigne...she especially sounds like her in the song Yozora no mukao! not only that, but the same hair style, hair length, same petite figure, plays guitar, and when she sings live, there are certain similarities in facial expression... ...i guess her voice sounds like a mix between avril's and michelle's then...hehe! XD |

Yeah.. I guess she is a little like both of them. I think YUI has more of a Michelle style/atittude.. like Michelle was more innocent, wheras Avril was more rebel-like. YUI is definately innocent.. how could you look at that face and see a rebel? :P |

Haha, same story here, actually! Nowadays I'm even a bigger fan of YUI than Michelle. :o Not much news on Michelle music-wise since she just had her baby. She did sing in Santana's latest single, "I'm Feeling You," though. And I believe they're done recording The Wreckers' album, but it hasn't been released yet. (This is my first post, so hello everyone =)) |

Actually I'm kind of proud that Michelle has Indonesian breed in her blood. And her music is really good. I had been her fan until I'm so into J-music that I dun listen many western songs... Ty: that 'game of love' song u mean? I think I have it but let me check it if it still exists on my PC or not. I haven't played it for long...(I'm planning to listen it when I get home..I miss this song! ^^ ) |

No.. there's a newer one.. ugh, gosh.. what's the name of it?! I know I have it on my comp somehwere! Yeah, on Santana's new album, he does a song with Michelle, and he also does a song with Bo Bice (American Idol runner up). |

I used to listen to Michelle Branch, but now I don't have any new songs of her so got bored of the old songs -_-'. but anyway, I think the YUI's style and Michelle Branch's style is very alike. guess that's why I like YUI so much -_-'. |

I have the Santana Alb's: Supernatural, and Shaman. I forget which one has "Game of Love" w/ Michelle, and which has "Smooth" w/ Rob Thomas though. These two are my FAVS w/ Santana!

All right...here's a question...did anyone else grow up with her music? And I mean quite literally when she was writing it, it was a lot of what was going on in your life? I am 2 months younger than Michelle, so it is crazy seeing her release music and me growing into or living it...I even left home around the same time she did (mid-2000 for me)... I mean, I was 17 and in a completely strange environment...It kinda helped to hear someone else singing about the same things I was thinking...knowing that it was never just my fight...I had friends up there at school, but they weren't always there...and the dearest ones didn't come along until later on... I guess you could say her music was a silent sounding board for me...and I truly hope that one day I can meet her and thank her in person... sorry...was going to post that on my new share, but felt that it would be better in this topic...so I rambled here rather than spamming there |

I know what you mean. Michelle was the very reason I started playing guitar. I saw pictures of her with her guitar and watched her live sessions @AOL, and I'm like "I wanna be like her!". In only 3 short years, I'll be the same age as Michelle was when she debuted :lol: |

I'm waiting for something to come along.. Northwest Indiana isn't really a place where it's easy to get my music out there.. I'm trying my hardest though, with YUI, Michelle Branch and many other artists inspiring me. Oh man, I'm listening to Michelle's independent release "Broken Bracelet" (THANKS VIPER!!), and I'm totally amazed. I hope Michelle keeps releasing music, even though she's probably busy with her new daughter. :) |

Northwest Indiana, eh? I feel your pain... Southwest Indiana here. Doesn't the state provide perfect isolation? Now if only you could switch that on and off when you deisred...*shrugs* I'm glad you enjoyed Michelle's Independent release...Definitely one of my favorite albums of all time, and I'm glad I could share it with you...btw, isn't there supposed to be an album out in the next month or two from the Wreckers? looking forward to seeing how that turns out... (my mind skips around a lot...sorry if my posts get a bit confusing at times) If you're in northwest Indiana, maybe Chicago would be a place to look for a lil exposure (though I'm sure you've probably thought of that). :) yeah...southern indiana sucks for much of anything except corn, beans, and cows...oh...we do have decent watermelons...i dun like cantaloupe, so i won't speak either way on those....hehe oh man...I just finally watched the video for "Are You Happy Now?" (I'm not sure if I'd seen it before, since it came out during an insanely chaotic time in my life) dayum...I knew what the song was about, and I knew it was a really bitter song... But she looks PISSED in that video... btw, did Tomiko Van go solo? or did I remember wrong? |

Michelle Branch is a great artist and I love her dearly. She and Yui definitely have their similarities but I think they're pretty different in many ways. I wouldn't call Michelle Branch Yui's american equal or vice versa, but Yui is getting better with every song she comes out with. Yui's a great artist and I have much respect for her, just like Michelle Branch. |

Michelle Branch is my idol
:D lol She was my musical revolution and i began to play the guitar after hearing for first time her song "goodbye to you" (which is for me her best song!) Yui's style reminds me a little of Michelle Branch :P but we can't say it's exactly the same :) Few days ago , i saw a video of YUI singing "goodbye to you" :lol: great moment! lol |

YUI and Michelle Branch have a similar style of music, both of them are talented musicians, and both have a sweet voice. If I had to pick it has to be YUI, I find that YUI's musical arrangements have a wider variety interms of using both the acoustic, and electric guitar. Michelle Branch is actually one of YUI's musical idols so overall they are both great artist. |

I'm not sure if you're talking about the one we have in the forum, but there's a pretty high quality vid of YUI singing Goodbye To You here... In any case, yeah...I saw the magazine spread...I don't know why she did it, but I'm not going to question her, because I still adore her as an artist. And much to my surprise, even with all the fame, she's still down-to-earth... I'm so eagerly awaiting her new album (well, under her new band The Wreckers)...It was supposed to be out today, but it got delayed till April 11. So I guess 4 weeks won't hurt anything...I've got lots of other music and stuff to keep me busy... I'm also hoping they go on tour...reallh hoping they go on tour...because in all the years I've been listening to Michelle Branch's music, I am yet to see her live in person...If she's ever back in Chicago, I'm all on that... oops...guess I rambled a bit... ooh...last point of rambling :P Michelle Branch and YUI do share similar stylings, but I'd never even try to pick one over the other...Both have strengths...both have weaknesses...and both will always have my support... |

Same here.. oh, but I came so close one time! She was scheduled to perform at the county fair years ago.. and I got a ticket and everything, I was so excited! But then, something happened, and she had to cancel all her county fair performances. I cried :huhuhu If she ever comes to Chicago, maybe we could meet up at the concert! :) I'm only about an hour away from there. |
